Fee Based Services

Board Approved January 20, 2010
Implemented February 1, 2010

Various services provided by the library are offered at an additional charge to recover costs associated with providing service beyond the basic level.  Fees for Braille production, fax requests, copying/printing costs, out-of-county library cards, and Interlibrary Loan mailing costs are set by the Library Board, with changes made as necessary.

  • Braille Production- July 10, 2006

Customers may produce Braille documents using equipment in the Lawrenceville Branch.  There is no charge for the first ten pages; thereafter a per page charge applies.

  • Fax Requests – July 10, 2006
This service is provided to offer increased convenience to customers in their requests for the retrieval and delivery of answers to their information needs.  Individuals and businesses may send and receive information utilizing the library’s fax machines when the fax is directly related to a library information transaction.  There are many commercial fax services available for other personal and business fax requests.  Due to copyright restrictions, the number of items which will be copied and faxed is limited to one article from any single issue of a periodical or one entry or chapter from any single book.  Faxed information will include a cover sheet which provides notice of copyright.  The library will not fax copies of materials for which contractual agreements prohibit photocopying.

  • When materials must be faxed between branches, it is difficult to determine in advance whether the information meets the customer’s need.  For this reason, the library does not charge for faxed information when the customer in the receiving branch evaluates its usefulness and returns the material to the desk.  There is a per page charge for all other faxed copies.

  • Photocopies-  June 8, 1998
It is the library’s objective to provide easily accessible information that meets the customer’s need.  When material is available on site, the customer can evaluate that information and may make a copy for his/her convenience.  Customers may also use the copy machine to copy personal documents.  There is a per page charge for copies from the photocopy machine or the reader/printer.

  • Printing from the Network - June 8, 1998
There is a per page charge for printing done from the library catalog, the information databases and the Internet.

  • Interlibrary Loan  - September 22, 2009 – Implemented February 1, 2010
Interlibrary loan service permits wise spending of collection development funds by giving customers access to materials owned by other libraries.  In some cases, it is not possible to purchase a title because it is out of print.  In other cases, it is not cost effective to purchase a title because the anticipated demand is low.

ILL services allow the library to provide materials beyond the scope of the basic collection currently maintained by the library.  While the library does not pass on lending fees, a flat fee per ILL item will be charged to defray mailing costs.
