After enjoying a story together, a craft activity can be a great opportunity to engage your child in further conversation about what you’ve read. For example, after reading a book about Fall, you could go outside and collect leaves with your child to make a mosaic. As you’re collecting leaves, you can talk about the color, size, and shapes of the leaves.
In addition to creating a meaningful connection between what they’ve seen in a book and their physical world, it’s a great opportunity for increased vocabulary use. Plus it’s fun!
